TENGA FLIP FLEXY review: the first fully flexible FLIP tested

The TENGA FLIP FLEXY is the first FLIP that you can press from all sides, and as a loyal TENGA fan, of course I had to try it out for this TENGA FLIP FLEXY review. You probably know the FLIP series: it's that family of masturbators with that clever flip-open design that I've tried almost everything from. When TENGA announced that it was now adding a fully flexible version, I was immediately curious. What does this flexible housing really do differently than the well-known FLIP ZERO or the FLIP 360 MIDNIGHT PURPLE that I recently tested for you? I'll tell you below what struck me, what I found clever and where I personally would have liked to see just a little more punch.

Spoiler: the concept works and being able to press anywhere to find the right spot is super nice. At the same time, I'm a fan of some firmer sensations myself, and I'll get to that later.

TENGA FLIP FLEXY: the first fully flexible FLIP

The TENGA FLIP FLEXY, as its name implies, is the first FLIP that you can really press anywhere. Whereas the FLIP ZERO and the FLIP 360 worked primarily with specific pressure points or pads, the FLEXY is yielding from head to toe. That sounds like a small difference, but in practice it changes the way you use the toy. You no longer have to think about which button you push or which direction your hand is in. You just squeeze where you like it and the casing follows along.

TENGA itself calls it the "first fully flexible FLIP" and emphasizes an enveloping orb-and-ring construction inside. Loosely translated, there is a thickened ball and ring inside the material that converts pressure from any direction into targeted stimulation. In the FLEXY line, this means you can approach the same spot from different angles and get a different sensation each time. It's a toy that you really have to learn to play for yourself, which is exactly why the FLIP series has been a fixture in my collection for so long.

What makes the FLEXY different from the FLIP ZERO and FLIP 360

I have already written about the FLIP ZERO and the FLIP 360 MIDNIGHT PURPLE in my previous TENGA reviews. Both are premium toys with their own strengths. The FLIP ZERO is known for its sleek, intense internal textures. The FLIP 360 added the spiral design and pressure pads. The FLEXY chooses a third way: less pronounced pads, but full flexibility of the entire body.

In practice, this gives a quieter, more rounded sensation. You clearly feel the orb and ring working when you squeeze, but you don't get that sharp, pulsating intensity of the 360 with all its pressure points pressed simultaneously. For those who like a smooth, building experience, that's just wonderful. For those, like me, who sometimes like to go up a notch, it's something to think about consciously before spending €120.

Unpacking TENGA FLIP FLEXY

The packaging is what you would expect from TENGA. A sturdy box in silver tones, with a clear product picture and the FLIP logo. Upon opening, you find the FLEXY itself, a drying stand, two bags of TENGA Lotion Regular and the instructions. The drying stand is practically the same recipe as the FLIP 360: you put the unfolded toy on it and air can circulate freely. Ideal for drying hygienically and quickly.

The included lotion pouches are nice to get started right away, although I personally prefer to grab my solid water-based lubricant because I don't handle formulas with glycerin very well. More on that later.

TENGA FLIP FLEXY tested

Preparation is nice and simple. You flip the FLEXY open via the familiar FLIP mechanism, put some lube on the inside and the insertion point, and you're done. The material immediately feels different from previous FLIPs. Softer, thicker, more flesh. During insertion, you have that enveloping feeling that TENGA talks about. It's as if the toy conforms to your shape instead of the other way around.

The very best thing about this masturbator is that you can really press anywhere to find the right spot. Moving your hand, moving a fingertip a little higher, adding a thumb on the side, it all works. The internal orb and ring translate that pressure differently each time. I found it almost an exploration: sliding your grip around until you find that one point where it tilts perfectly at that moment. I don't see that kind of variation with many other masturbators in this price range.

At the same time, I want to be honest about what I liked a little less. The FLEXY itself is a bit softer than the FLIP ZERO or the FLIP 360. For those who like velvety soft stimulation, that's a feature, but I myself am a fan of somewhat firmer sensations. I had to squeeze more firmly than I am used to in order to achieve that intensity I was looking for. That's possible, because the material is thick and doesn't pass easily, but it does mean you have to be more active with your hand. A tip: use your second hand to give back pressure on the other side. That makes all the difference.

What I liked about it: the flexibility allows you to adjust the pressure distribution to your liking. You can put the toy tight around the base and looser around the top, or vice versa. With the FLIP 360 with its fixed pads you are a little more bound to a pattern. With the FLEXY, you determine that pattern yourself. For people who like to finetune, this is a big plus.

The material retains heat well. After a minute or two, everything feels pleasantly body warm, and that takes the whole experience to the next level. Ejaculation went off without a hitch, only I felt like I had to stay in it a bit more actively than with firmer FLIPs. For me personally this gives a different kind of pleasure than I am used to, not better or worse, just different.

Cleaning TENGA FLIP FLEXY

The FLIP system here again shows why it is such a popular design. Flip open the FLEXY, rinse it thoroughly with cold or lukewarm water, use toy cleaner or mild soap if necessary, and you can get to everything. No corners where lotion gets stuck, no spots where you can't clean. This is hygienically important for a reusable product, and the difference between a toy you keep using faithfully and one that stays in the drawer.

After cleaning, put it on the drying stand in the open position. Because of the flexible material, it takes a little longer for everything to dry completely than the tighter FLIP ZERO, but it's still fine. Let it dry completely before storing it, otherwise odor may develop. Classic rule for any reusable masturbator.

A fair side note, though: the included TENGA Lotion Regular contains glycerin. For most people that works fine and it's a familiar formula, but personally I'm not a fan of it. Glycerin can cause irritation in somewhat more sensitive bodies. If you love it, then you're fine. Does that bother you or do you just like to play it safe? Then buy the bundle for the toys and pick up solid water-based lubricant without glycerin.

Conclusion of my TENGA FLIP FLEXY review

The TENGA FLIP FLEXY is yet another step in the FLIP series and that alone makes it worth a look. The idea of making the whole body flexible works: you really get a new kind of sensation and being able to press anywhere to find the right spot is wonderful. For those who like to fine-tune and enjoy softer, rounded stimulation, this is a winner.

For me personally, as someone who likes some firmer sensations, it's a toy that I deliberately grab at times when I have time to be active with it. It's not a quickie. It's a masturbator that invites exploration. And that totally fits in with what TENGA is good at: making toys that let you discover something new every time.

Is €120 an investment? Yes. Is it worth it? For most people, I think so, especially since the build quality and design will last for years if you clean and dry properly. For people with larger collections, this is a new taste in a mouthful of familiar textures.
